The African Future Institute (AFI) was established in early 2004 to sustainprospective thinking in Africa by optimising on the achievements of the African Futures project (AF).The African Futures project was set up in 1992by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to assist African countriesin conducting perspective studies and develop a long-term vision for theirdevelopment process. Between 1992 and 2003, AF provided technical supportand training for the development or implementation of twenty-five nationallong-term prospective studies (NLTPS). AF has also published several studiesand documents.
